I look forward to expanding my business and agent relationships while working alongside some of the most respected agents in the business.”

Guests Attend Doyle's Glittering Jewelry Auction Preview at Paley Center
Luxury brands alliance benefits clients when selling or liquidating assets
The Cartier, Piaget, Rolex, and Van Cleef items up for bid were dazzling. So were the guests at a Beverly Hills jewelry auction preview hosted by luxury brands Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties and Doyle auctioneers and appraisers.
The May 12 invitation-only preview at The Paley Center for Media gave clients of each firm the opportunity to examine 450 lots of exquisite jewelry ranging from the 1840s to the modern era. Many of the pieces were obtained through appraisal days Doyle conducted at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties offices since the brands debuted their luxury lifestyle alliance last October. The lots then went on public display at the Paley Center for three days leading up to the auction on May 16.
"The preview was a fun, joyous event held in a beautiful space with floor-to-ceiling windows of white light streaming in to showcase the incredible jewelry," said Emily Marchick, associate director of operations and jewelry specialist for Doyle.
"Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties and Doyle decided to celebrate the jewelry collection and expose clients to the services each brand provides. We considered it a champagne toast to learning about fine jewelry."
In addition to mingling, enjoying Wolfgang Puck hors d'oeuvres, and hosted beverages, the nearly 120 guests had the opportunity to try on stunning pieces in a "jewelry walk-around" led by Nan Summerfield, Doyle senior vice president and director of California operations, who also discussed some of the more important pieces from various eras.
"Our agents are skilled in explaining to clients how our partners can assist if they decide to sell or liquidate assets when relocating," said Mary Lee Blaylock, President & CEO of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties.
"Whether for constraints of space or to buy new pieces of property, Doyle can show clients how to diversify their assets and portfolio by investing in jewelry and fine art. We are pleased to partner with Doyle, who sets the industry standard for professionalism, expertise and service."
Doyle conducts jewelry auctions annually in May and November through its Beverly Hills office. To procure auction items, it holds appraisal days regularly at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties offices throughout Southern California. The free events are open to the public and promoted by agents, on each firm's website, and in local media advertising. Appointments are required.

Historic Beachfront Estate in Gaviota
On the Market for $50 Million
Royal Rancho, Gaviota
The Royal Rancho, a Gaviota oceanfront ranch with more than a quarter-mile of private beach, is on the market for $50 million after decades of ownership by two prominent families.
The 214-acre property also is historically significant as the location where Santa Barbara was first discovered. On Oct. 16, 1542, explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo and his crew dropped anchor off the site and made contact with Native Americans from two villages who paddled out to greet them. The crew did not go ashore, but left the following morning after recording for posterity a name for the verdant, serene landscape: Dos Pueblos.
"The incredible private, sandy beach compound rivals most county and state beach parks," said listing agent Kerry Mormann, a REALTOR®-Broker Associate with the Montecito office of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties.
"The multiple buildings at Dos Pueblos include nine guest and employee residences, butler and chauffeur quarters, barns, and other support structures. In addition, an abalone aquaculture operation is located on the site with a permitted recirculating-water pipeline to the Pacific Ocean. This working ranch is like a village, with 50 acres of agriculture, including avocado and cherimoya."
The main residence is the stately, 5,000-square-foot Casa Grande mansion built in the 1920s classic California Spanish style, offering five bedrooms and seven bathrooms. It was built on the personal ranch of Samuel Mosher, founder and owner of Signal Gas & Oil. The ranch was later sold to Rudolf Schulte, a master German watchmaker turned medical technology pioneer and philanthropist.
"With no public access to the ranch or its beach, the estate offers unrivaled privacy off a gated private road," Mormann said. "This is one of the most important oceanfront ranches along the Southern California coast. It is a world-class ranch, in one of last unspoiled areas of the California coast, and the county wants it to stay that way."
To arrange for a private showing of the Royal Rancho, contact Mormann at 805-689-3242, firstname.lastname@example.org, the Montecito office of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties located at 1170 Coast Village Road, Montecito, CA 93108, or www.bhhscalifornia.com. 1,440-Acre Rancho Dos Vistas
Offers Privacy and Natural Beauty for $12.9 Million
1,440-Acre Rancho Dos Vistas
Rancho Dos Vistas, a 1,440-acre property adjacent to Ronald and Nancy Reagan's former vacation home, the "Western White House," in the Santa Ynez Mountains, is for sale at $12.9 million.
"This timeless ranch stretches across the Refugio skyline for approximately two breathtaking miles, and showcases some of the best views Santa Barbara has to offer," said listing agent Kerry Mormann, a REALTOR®- Broker Associate with the Montecito office of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties.
"The completely remodeled 2,500-square-foot home plus guesthouse gently sit atop the oak-studded mountain, boasting magnificent views from every window, including spectacular panoramas of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Ynez Valley."
Set behind double gates off a private road (locally named Pennsylvania Avenue), the ranch features more than 40 miles of roads and tree-canopied trails that lead to many special settings, Mormann said. The property is ideal for an owner who values privacy and natural beauty. It offers the perfect balance of serenity and comfort, while maintaining easy accessibility to Santa Barbara.
The three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom contemporary ranch-style house has been completely upgraded with a chef's-style kitchen, and is offered fully furnished. Abundant water is provided by private wells and springs. Two spring-fed ponds grace the property, including one in an oak amphitheater setting. Power and telephone lines are available on the property.
Named for its views of the ocean and valley, Rancho Dos Vistas borders Rancho Del Cielo, the private, 688-acre retreat the Reagans preferred for secluded vacations. After her husband's death, Nancy Reagan sold the property to the Young America's Foundation, a conservative group that preserves it as "a living monument to Reagan's ideas, values, and lasting accomplishments." The ranch is closed to the public, but the foundation offers students and supporters the opportunity to visit the property.
To arrange for a private showing of Rancho Dos Vistas, contact Mormann at 805-689-3242, email@example.com, the Montecito office of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties located at 1170 Coast Village Road, Montecito, CA 93108, or www.bhhscalifornia.com. Oprah Winfrey Purchases 23-Acre Property for $28.85 Million From Dan Encell of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties
One of the largest properties in Montecito has been sold to Oprah Winfrey for $28,850,000 by Dan Encell, a REALTOR®-Broker Associate in the Montecito office of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties, in partnership with Sage Auctions.
Known as Seamair Farm, the property is spread over 23 acres on two separate parcels, in the heart of Montecito. It is bordered on the north by a 40-acre world-class estate, and on the east by a 44-acre dedicated preserve. While it is tucked away and private, it is also close to all Montecito shopping, dining, parks, Montecito Union schools, and the beach.
"The rich legacy and personality of Seamair Farm allows the new owner an open canvas upon which to create and live her dreams," Encell said. "This was a truly rare opportunity for Ms. Winfrey as Seamair Farm had not been on the market in over 30 years. The main home was designed by renowned California-lifestyle architect Cliff May, and offers comfortable living with ocean and mountain views. It is surrounded by sprawling acres of equestrian facilities, fruit orchards, and flat, usable land. This remarkable estate truly has it all."
Iowa-based Sage Auctions brought in Encell to help provide local expertise, and facilitate local networking and marketing for the property. "Dan was just invaluable to us," auctioneer Marty Rogers said. "He and his team at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties were great. They jumped right in and helped with so many of the local aspects of the auction."
"Time and time again, Dan has proven to be one of the top producers of estate sales in the Santa Barbara area, and prides himself on the fine properties he represents," Branch Manager Kyle Kemp said. "Whether you are looking for property in Montecito, Santa Barbara, Hope Ranch, or anywhere along the South Coast, Dan can help secure the home of your dreams."
Encell is a lifelong resident of California, and also lives in Montecito. He graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with high honors and a double major in business economics and law and society. He also earned a law degree at UCLA School of Law with training in contracts, tax, real estate law, and estate planning. After passing the California Bar exam, he was a practicing attorney in Los Angeles.

10.8-Acre Hilltop Homes Opportunity Offered in Beverly Hills, Calif., for $17.9 Million
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – One of the last large, vacant residential parcels in the 90210 ZIP code – high on a hilltop with unobstructed 270-degrees views to the Pacific Ocean – offers a hideaway estate site for a visionary owner to build up to two magnificent homes.
"These 10.8 untouched acres enjoy open and expansive views to the south and west, all the way to Catalina Island," said listing agent Endre Barath of the Beverly Hills office of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties. "The hilly terrain provides several attractive locations perfectly suited for high-end construction. With a recent major price reduction from $22,500,000 to $17,900,000, this is a rare opportunity to create two world-class trophy homes with breathtaking views offering complete privacy."
"The property, located just minutes from Rodeo Drive and downtown Beverly Hills, consists of two independent parcels with an existing home built on one," Barath said. (Current zoning regulations allow one home per acre.)
A team of award-winning architects and consultants has developed high-quality plans and renderings of two mega-mansions. Initial, unapproved subdivision plans are included in the price. "If developed, the homes could offer 40,000 and 20,000 square feet of unsurpassed comfort and luxury with ecologically sustainable technology," Barath said.
The architectural team may be available to the new owner for hire, and part or all of the existing plans can be carried out and delivered as turnkey if desired. Photos, rendering-concept, and design are available at www.beverlybellevue.website.
Barath's collaboration work with developers over the years has earned him the nickname "The Land Man." He is frequently consulted on real estate land matters by his clients and colleagues. A strong negotiator with a straightforward, candid approach and exceptional strategies for buying and selling, Barath prides himself on customer loyalty and satisfaction.
Barath previously lived and traveled throughout Europe, and is fluent in Hungarian and German. When not working on behalf of his clients, he enjoys cooking, reading, and watching sports. A friend to animals and supporter of animal rescue, he donates a portion of each commission to the Los Angeles based nonprofit animal-rescue organization the Lange Foundation.

Rancho Bernardo Brokerage Celebrates Two Milestone Anniversaries
RANCHO BERNARDO – Two familiar faces with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties celebrated anniversaries in September – and not just with their office, but with the real estate industry as well.
Manager Kevin Williamson marked his first year with the office and 14th year in the profession, while Administrative Assistant Joan Ellam observed her 31st year in the same office
"People may be surprised to know that I have stayed 'on the corner' for 31 years and have worked for a series of real estate companies before Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties took over. When they ask why, I respond that I waited for Kevin, as he is a reward for the whole office!" Ellam said.
That kind of praise is common for Williamson, who relocated with his family to Rancho Bernardo from Riverside, his hometown, after managing a large real estate office in Rancho Cucamonga for three years, where he was manager and a top-producing agent.
"Company training and support are essential in this business and make all the difference in an agent's success," said Katie Holmes, a REALTOR®-Sales Associate in the Rancho Bernardo office. "I'm very fortunate to be part of a local branch with a manager like Kevin Williamson, who offers training and coaching that have helped propel my business to the next level."
Ellam, a mother of five and grandmother of six, was introduced to the office in 1983, when she moved from New Jersey to California and bought her first home. During the process, she saw an ad for an open position, applied, and has been in the Rancho Bernardo office since 1984. After her husband passed away in 1986, she said she appreciated what her career brought into her life even more. Not only did a steady paycheck help provide for her family, but the support and encouragement she received from co-workers also made coming to work a welcome task.
"I have seen many changes over the years, but I've stayed with the company because I know a good thing when I see it," she said. "Each department within the company continues to exceed above excellence. We are so blessed to have our corporate office with wonderful people so close by in Carmel Valley."

Agents Clear the Coast at State’s Largest Volunteer Event
Southern California beaches, bays, and lagoons sparkled brighter than usual Sept. 19 thanks to hundreds of agents, managers, their families and friends of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties. All pitched in to make a difference on Coastal Cleanup Day, California's single-largest volunteer event.
Eager volunteers representing the company’s San Diego, Orange, Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara county offices combed the sands and streets for three hours, hauling off hundreds of pounds of debris. Each wore a custom-designed T-shirt emblazoned with “Giving back to the community” in white letters on a solid background of Cabernet, the brand’s distinctive color.
“We formed a wall of volunteers from the street to the ocean in Huntington Beach,” said Mary Jespersen, Irvine office administrator. “It was like a sea of Cabernet marching across the sand. It really brought everyone together.”
“Our team loved it at the Santa Monica Pier,” said Karima Hawa, Beverly Hills office administrator. “They thought it was a great event, and can’t wait to do it again next year. We received a lot of thanks from people on the pier. Some even stopped their daily routines to help us out for a while.”
In San Diego, volunteers scoured the streets and alleys of Mission Beach, earning praise from local residents. In Ventura, they cleaned Seaward Beach at the end of Seaward Avenue.
