This San Rafael residence was designed by architect Whitney R. Smith, one of the original Case Study House Program architects. The original home built in 1941 was small, offering just under 1000 sq.ft. with two bedroom and 1 bath In 2007 the current owners commissioned architect Ken Kurose to design an addition and remodel. The new design includes a sun filled entry, master suite, family room with additional bath and upper balcony area as well as a new larger kitchen. The well thought out design was in keeping with the original and feels open, spacious and airy. The grounds of the home are zen like with outdoor patios that expand the living spaces beyond the exterior walls. The home offers privacy and is centrally located in the very desirable San Rafael area of Pasadena.
