Melissa Duggan Pace holds a special connection to the neighborhoods she serves. A native Southern Californian, Melissa grew up in Westwood, attending Warner Avenue and Westlake School for Girls. Her passion for architecture led her to Wesleyan University in Connecticut, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree-and met her future husband. Post-graduation, Melissa moved to New York, where she helped launch American Elle Magazine. Her relentless energy, artistic acumen, and work ethic helped her quickly climb the ladder there from assistant to associate fashion editor.
In 2000, her husband's job relocation brought the family, which now included their three children, back to Los Angeles, where Melissa found herself in the daunting role of out-of-town home-buyer. She recalls her search vividly: "I trekked all over the Westside, reacquainting myself with its various neighborhoods - but now viewing them through the eyes of potential purchaser. I explored their logistical plusses and minuses, their perks (schools, beaches, hiking trails!) and drawbacks (traffic!) all so I could make the most informed decision about where we should put down roots." The family settled in Brentwood, where Melissa became an active volunteer and member of the parents' organization at her children's school. Ultimately, it was the dual perspective of native Californian and out-of-state transplant that led Melissa to become a Realtor. "I wanted to take my unique knowledge and insight of Westside real estate and use it to help others find their ideal house."
"I believe the key to being a good realtor is being a good teacher, guiding my clients, whether buyers or sellers, through the process. They need to understand each aspect of it fully, whether it's the strategy behind the pricing of their home, the essential pre-listing preparations that can give their property that "wow factor," or the intricacies of a multiple bidding situation. With that knowledge, my clients can make the best possible decision for their needs. After all, a house is not just the largest asset a family may have, it is home
, where memories are made and life is lived - and its purchase should be intelligently, deliberately, and calmly achieved no matter how "hot" or "cold" the market is running."
